Family Therapy in Toronto and Across Ontario
Family relationships can hold deep care, responsibility, history, and cultural importance. When communication breaks down, family members may feel misunderstood, unheard, or stuck in the same patterns. Family therapy creates space for each person’s experiences, needs, thoughts, and feelings to be understood.
Family therapy may help with:
• Communication breakdowns and recurring conflict
• Parent, caregiver, child, or adolescent relationships
• Feeling disconnected, unheard, or misunderstood
• Boundaries, emotional regulation, and family roles
• Cultural or generational differences
• Grief, separation, life transitions, and other changes
• Rebuilding trust and strengthening connection
A Collaborative Family Approach
I draw from Emotion-Focused Family Therapy, Solution-Focused Therapy, Narrative Therapy, and relational approaches. We’ll work together to understand the patterns affecting your family, respond to emotions differently, and develop more supportive ways of communicating. The focus is on the patterns between family members rather than treating one person as “the problem.”
Culture and Family Values Matter
Family relationships are often shaped by culture, migration, generational expectations, race, gender, sexuality, and neurodivergence. I offer an anti-oppressive and affirming space where these parts of your family’s experience can be discussed rather than overlooked.
