I work with people from all backgrounds, with a particular focus on supporting racialized, 2SLGBTQIA+, and neurodivergent clients. Sessions are available online throughout Ontario, with Walk-and-Talk Therapy available in person in downtown Toronto’s community green spaces.

About the Therapist

Ekam Manku

I hold a Master of Social Work, and I am a registered Social Worker (RSW) with the Ontario College of Social Workers and Social Service Workers. With a combination of passion, education, and experience, both lived and professional, my practice is grounded in relationship, humility, empathy, curiosity, and collectiveness. I value connection, openness, compassion, and community.

Being queer, racialized, or neurodivergent may shape your experiences, but it doesn't define who you are. Therapy is a space to explore your whole story.

Loneliness doesn't always begin in adulthood. Sometimes, it begins the moment we learn that parts of ourselves feel safer hidden than seen.

Services

FREE CONSULTATION

I offer a free 20-minute consultation to learn more about what you’re looking for in therapy and to explore whether I would be a good fit for you. During this conversation, we’ll chat about your goals, my therapeutic approach, and what support might look like together.

The therapeutic relationship is an important part of the healing process, so this consultation is also an opportunity for you to assess connection, ask questions, and begin building comfort and trust.

As part of the consultation, I’ll also go over what therapy can look like, confidentiality, and my scope of practice. Overall, this is a space for us to connect, explore alignment, and see whether working together feels supportive for your needs and goals.

One-on-one counselling session from the comfort of your own space through video call. My current availability consist of evening hours throughout the week, typically between 6 and 9 pm.

My therapeutic work involves various interventions grounded in narrative therapy, dialectic-behavioural therapy, and parts work. While I support clients in navigating immediate distress or challenges, I also support clients in connecting with their inner child and making meaning of their life experiences.

Central to individual therapy is relationship building, as several lines of research show that the therapeutic relationship is the most important factor in healing.

FAMILY THERAPY ($250 for a 90 minute session).

Families can get stuck in patterns of conflict, disconnection, or misunderstanding that leave people feeling unheard or unsure of how to move forward. Family therapy can create space to slow those patterns down, strengthen communication, and build more understanding between family members.

My approach is collaborative and non-blaming, with attention to communication, boundaries, family roles, emotional needs, and cultural or intergenerational expectations. I also recognize the importance of culture, family values, and community in shaping how families understand connection, responsibility, and care.

Family therapy is available virtually across Ontario.

WALK AND TALK ($160/hr)

One-on-one in person counselling sessions while walking outdoors. Walk and talk sessions incorporate psychotherapy with the combined benefits of movement and nature. Walk and talk sessions also offer in person client-therapist interaction.

Walk and talk sessions can occur at any nature space in Toronto’s downtown core including the University of Toronto campus, Queens Park, Tommy Thompson Park, Coronation Park, Trillium Park, etc.).

COUPLES THERAPY ($170 for a 60 minute session or $240 for a 90 minute session).

Relationships can get stuck in patterns that leave both people feeling unheard, disconnected, or frustrated. Sometimes the issue is not just what you are arguing about, but how the two of you communicate, respond, and protect yourselves when things feel tense.

Couples therapy can be a space to slow those patterns down, understand what is happening underneath them, and find new ways of connecting. My approach is collaborative and non-blaming, drawing from Narrative Therapy, Emotion-Focused Family Therapy, Solution-Focused Therapy, DBT strategies, and parts-based work. Together, we can explore communication, emotional needs, boundaries, trust, intimacy, and the patterns shaping your relationship.

Couples therapy is available virtually across Ontario or through Walk & Talk sessions in Toronto.
